Leadership

leadershippageheaderYou should know that students who get involved on campus typically have better GPAs, and the time management and leadership skills learned through student involvement can be transformational. Did you also know that becoming a student leader can be one of the most rewarding things in your lifetime? At Oglethorpe, we understand that and, we offer many opportunities for you to engage by leading.  Our office oversees all of the University’s student organizations, while also sponsoring the following leadership opportunities:

The co-curricular transcript showcases Oglethorpe students’ areas of involvement, learning experiences, and overall outstanding achievements. Important aspects of student activity–including things like organization membership, certifications, service projects completed, etc.–can be reflected on the transcript. You will be presented this reflection of your leadership experiences at Commencement.

Engage by leading, and you may be chosen to receive an award! The president of the University presents this prize to a graduating student who has excelled in leadership accomplishments. The award is named for Oglethorpe’s 13th president, Dr. Manning M. Pattillo, Jr.

If leadership is influence, then the highest achievement of leadership is influencing a group of people to receive the Deans’ Award for Outstanding Achievement. This award is presented annually to a campus club, organization or society which, in the opinion of the vice president for student affairs and the provost, has contributed most to University life.
